The Inland Container Depot (ICD) developed by Worlds Window Wardha Infrastructure Pvt. Ltd. (WWWIPL), a subsidiary of the Delhi based Worlds Window Group, started its operation on 21st September 2008. This marks the completion of the first phase of the project. In the first phase, full rake size rails siding, loaded container stacking area along the rail siding, cargo handling area, empty container stacking area and internal road of 1.8 kms has been developed for domestic container handling.

The ICD will be developed in three phases over the next three years. The subsequent phases would witness the development of warehouses for export and import, and a specialized logistics cum Distribution Park. Once fully developed in 100 acres area, the integrated facility will have fully paved area of more than one Lakh sq mts and warehousing space of more than 5 Lakh sq feet. The facility is soon going to flag off its first domestic container train from ICD Wardha to ICD Loni (NCR).

This project is aimed to reap the benefits from the business opportunities that the Multi-modal International Hub at Nagpur (MIHAN) will throw open in the near future. Along with Lloyds Steel, which would be its one of the major client, WWWIPL is targeting the business areas of whole Vidarbha, part of Andhra Pradesh and Chattisgarh as its catchment areas. The development of this ICD would enable Worlds Window Group to provide its customers and private container train operators rail based container handling facilities, not only at Loni in NCR but also at Wardha in Maharashtra which is centrally located and best suited to become logistics and distribution hub for the country. ICD Wardha provides great opportunity to Logistic companies, shipping lines, private train operators and consolidators to set up their distribution cum warehousing facilities as a part of integrated logistic hub.
